SJs X2000 trains from Stockholm to the popular ski resort Are, in northern Sweden, have shortened their travel time to six hours instead of eight as previous years.
Apart from Stockholm, direct trains to Are and Duved also depart from Malmo, Gothenburg, Helsingborg, Halmstad and Varberg. SJ:s new time schedule runs from the the 15th December.

The Waterscape
The last part of the ride along Lac Léman before the train reached Geneva was amazingly beautiful with a view of mountains and snow-covered peaks on the other side of the lake.
After renting a bicycle in the bike shop behind Geneva’s railway station we went to Quay du Mont-Blanc by the lake, a long road lined with the city’s casino and several fancy hotels. We continued towards Genava’s main shopping streets Rue de la Conféderation, Rue du Marche and Rue de la Croix d´Or. After a tasty lunch, we went to Park La Grange and Park Eaux-Vives near Lac Léman, the gorgeous Jardin Anglais and Promenade du Lac near the bridge Pont du Mont-Blanc. Before returning our bikes we cycled along Le Rhone, past Bois des Freres and Bois de la Grille, to the area Vernier. I recommend this route if you’d like to see the area outside the city center, because it’s nice to cycle along the river and the roads from Vernier are downhill all the way to Geneva’s railway station.
