Tomatoes © Stephanie Berghaeuser
Recently I read about a somewhat unusual tradition taking place in the Spanish town Bunol near Valencia. This event dates back to 1944 and attracts lots of participators. During the morning of the last Wednesday in August, trucks filled with crushed tomatoes will park on the streets in Bunol. About 30,000 locals and visitors will gather by the trucks and throw tomatoes at each other.
Sounds like fun? Then catch a flight to Valencia and spend a few days in Bunol this summer.
